Down a Street of Memories

Taking a walk down the street,
I remember the noisy nights
under the moon when gunshots
echoed in the air like lullabies.

With a sharp left turn,
I remember kissing the ground
with my knee while a map
was carved on my back with a cane.

Walking down the road,
I remember the freezing nights
with the stars playing Pictionary.

The movie nights
with never ending popcorn.
The overnight UNO games,
ping pong tournaments and
FIFA games.

A final right turn
leading to a foggy alley,
I remember being shipped off to a foreign land
inhabited by multi-color demons dominated by White.

Walking down the alley,
I tried to remember more but
I couldn’t. I was stuck.
Just waiting
