soldiers; it denotes
a forever grounded thing.

Like falling into step or
sleep, you are felled
until time—like sunlight—
slowly passes over your head.

Meesha grew up in Western Australia, where she wrote for Perth’s Fringe World, and was awarded the University of Australia’s Katherine Moss prize for the poetry she produced in her honor’s year.
