Lamiya Terrell is an artist from East St. Louis with a background in photography, a passion for storytelling, and currently studying Studio Art at Principia College. Growing up in a predominantly Black city often boxed in by statistics or stories of damage and neglect has shaped her in ways that are impossible to ignore; it shows up in her values, in what she notices, and in how she carries herself. This drives Lamiya to show that everyday little things in life—friends and family gathered together, young people moving through familiar streets, a shared laugh, or a feeling that lingers longer than the moment itself—are sacred and worthy of attention. Through her work she hopes to show that Black life as it is, is already full, beautiful, and enough.
