Miraal Zafar is a 24 year old grad student in the Photography MFA program at Parsons School of Design. This poem specifically tries to ground the unique diasporic experience and its complexities as experienced through the lived experience of a writer and an artist. Understanding and relating to human experience is what she undertakes as her role as an artist, and oftentimes being human, being a resident alien, being an immigrant, rests at the intersection of ordinariness and oddity.
