Wyatt Vaughn is an undergraduate student studying chemical engineering and English (creative writing) at the University of Kansas. While he often jokes that he chose to study both disciplines for their “immense overlap,” he finds it to be only half in jest. Vaughn’s poetry often explores clashing between opposing forces to synthesize an unlikely resolution. Traditional vs experimental form, science vs religion, art vs scientific method, regional identity vs queer identity, man and meat. Wyatt Vaughn looks to offer the reader an intimate view into verses that makes sure trains go off the tracks before arriving at a satisfying destination.
